WM6 upgrade for N560

I’ve been using my Pocket PC—Fujitsu-Siemens N560 (review) for quite some time now. I have used it mostly for GPS navigation and Internet access. I found an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 the other day. The whole procedure is fairly easy to follow. Here are the steps translated from Russian.

  • charge the battery and remove the SD card
  • perform a hard reset (hold power + calendar, soft reset at the same using the stylus, release the buttons after the pocket starts)
  • connect to computer with USB cable (do not use USB hub, always connect directly!); preferably, connect to laptop in case of power outage
  • establish ActiveSync connection (guest is ok)
  • copy the contents of the upgrade archive (in my case—N560.C550.WM6.Pups.777_Team.0.0.3.Test.rar) to a folder on your computer
  • start PocketLOOX5xxFlashTool.exe and follow the instructions

N560 The whole procedure takes less than 5 minutes. For a couple of days I installed all the programs I needed. It seems that GPS is a tad faster in establishing the initial connection. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth GPRS (through my cell phone) internet work without problems. Opening menus and windows seems a bit faster than before. I didn’t notice other substantial changes compared to Windows Mobile 5 (besides how it looks). Conclusion—I recommend the upgrade to every N560 owner (only if you are not too lazy reinstalling all your programs again).

UPDATE: I think that the GPS is less sensitive than before the upgrade and takes more time for the initial start. I am not 100% sure about that so I will make further tests. Everything else is fine.

    You have to unpack the archive somewhere on your personal computer, not the device, and then execute the flash tool.

    от скоро съм горд собственик на N560(втора ръка ) има инсталирани core pleyarкойто иска парола и не може да се подкара има и tom tom но визуално не ми допада ползвал съм i GO 2006 и страхотно много ми хареса ,
    та искам да си го по зачистя и да си инсталирам wm6 i go 2006 може и по нова и да си го ползвам за нет през wi fi може ли някой да помогне че съм новак !
